Christian mentoring is more than offering advice or meeting for coffee once a month. True biblical mentoring is an intentional relationship centered on helping someone grow in their faith, become more like Christ, and ultimately disciple others.

What Is Christian Mentoring?

Jesus Modeled Christian Mentoring

The Six Practices of Disciple-Making

1. Fellowship

Jesus first invited His disciples into relationship.

Christian mentoring begins by building genuine friendships rooted in Christ. Spiritual growth happens best when people know, encourage, and care for one another.

2. Teaching

Jesus consistently taught His disciples through Scripture, stories, questions, and meaningful conversations.

3. Prayer

Jesus regularly prayed with His disciples and taught them how to pray.

4. Ministry

Jesus didn't keep His disciples in the classroom.

He equipped them to serve others and share the gospel.

Christian mentoring moves beyond Bible study by encouraging believers to participate together in ministry and evangelism. Faith grows stronger when it is put into action.

5. Multiplication

Perhaps the greatest difference between biblical mentoring and many modern discipleship programs is multiplication.

Jesus never intended His disciples to remain followers forever.

He prepared them to become leaders who would make more disciples.

6. Accountability

Healthy mentoring relationships encourage believers to actively participate in ministry and evangelism.
